What is Shikai?
Shikai is the initial released form of a Soul Reaper's zanpakuto. It unlocks a unique ability tied to your weapon's Tag and RSE (Released Shikai Element).
Requirements to Unlock Shikai
- Reach Mastery 100 as a Soul Reaper.
- Obtain your Asauchi (from the Squad 12 NPC if lost).
- Press
Pto Meditate at your Division barracks. - Complete the Inner World event (solo trial).
The Tag & RSE System
Every Shikai has two hidden rolls:
- Tag — rarity pool (Common / Uncommon / Rare / Legendary). Tag controls the visual and archetype.
- RSE — the element/mechanic (e.g. Fire, Ice, Gravity, Bind).
A TAG reset code rerolls the tag pool; an RSE reset rerolls the element. See free resets on the Codes Page.
Top-Tier Shikai Abilities (May 2026)
- Legendary — Gravity: Pulls and slows. Best in teamfights.
- Legendary — Time: Stutter-step self-buff; S-tier 1v1.
- Rare — Ice: Easy lockdown combos.
- Rare — Fire (DoT): Cheesy but strong in farming.
- Rare — Bind: Counter to mobility races like Quincy.

When Should You Reset?
- Keep Common/Uncommon Shikai until Mastery 300+.
- Save RSE resets for AFTER you know which element you enjoy playing.
- Don't reset a Rare just because it's not Legendary — Rare-tier S-rank abilities exist.
